Ignis and Gladio knew long ago that their service to Noct would likely end with their death and they would gladly go that far if they had to. Noctis might've insisted they take the hunt, but Gladio and Ignis could've talked him out of it if there had been a real reason for concern.

The scent of the room made Ignis' stomach turn even more than it already was. Normally, the sight of his friend in so much distress would've pulled him to the bedside, his hands full of care and potions and his voice soft as he encouraged Gladio to lay back, to rest. To recover.
