Noct reverted to something other than his fear when confronted with it, usually with anger. Took after Gladio in that way, really, though Noct's other main emotional defense was his 'I don't care' lackadaisical attitude. They all had masks they hid behind, to one degree or another, but Noct's was often surprisingly confrontational, as this was proving.

Prompto didn't immediately respond, which spoke volumes in of itself that he was actually thinking over what he was going to say.
